Season 2 of the IWP is officially here, and things look a LOT different. Have no fear, we are here to bring you all the action regarding the IWP Season 2 Offseason.
Hendrick Overhaul
The first big bomb of new rides came when LMC Drivers Nick Kaufman and Brandon Finley made the move to the 5 and 24 machines of Hendrick Motorsports. The two playoff drivers and league champion join APW – Troxx – HotLapJimmy, with Troxx moving to the famous 25 machine of the Hendrick camp.
But thats not all folks, DenseFog aka wheelman of the year also will join HMS driving the 9 car and will complete the three big moves to Hendrick who look like early favorites to win the drivers championship. However, an uphill battle as in real life injuries may force DenseFog to race on a controller to start the season.
Toyota Recovers from Exodus
With LMC leaving, Toyota also lost championship contender WarmSnugz as well as league personality MeatVawl to other teams. However, in one of the sneaky good signings of the offseason, Toyota has added Hellseeker (35) and SpaceTmeJmpr (23). Dubbed the Toyota Twins, these two worked together to capture wins at Daytona and Darlingon last season. Coupled with the lead Toyota 19 car of CoreyRussell, this team looks prime to stay competitive across the series in the newly dubbed Championship Legacy Racing
That being said, don’t sleep on Corey’s darkhorse call of DillyToon and driver of the 11 Jeff. I expect these two to see big improvement on their average running and finish positions.
New Favorites?
This season we will introduce team points. For each race, the top 3 drivers from each team will also have their points applied to their teams points total that week. While Hendrick and CLR certainly have their superstars, I think its clear that the newly formed RPM Racing is the clear favorites for the team standings.
Consisting of 3 Championship contenders, Snuggz – JJ Franken – CPlacek, the RPM squad have a great roster from top to bottom. This team is CONSTANTLY in the lab working to get the perfect line, adjustments, and gameplan every week.
Fear the Meat
The Mighty Meat is the dark horse team. They will be elite, and they will be hilarious. Led by the Personality of the League himself, MeatVawl. The recruiting trail has been hot as they have added DingerMagic – Hunwhi – Bondsman.
Dinger coming off an INSANE playoff run, he is the clear leader of this roster but dont count out Hunwhi who was also a playoff driver, and Bondsman who had a strong showing in his exhibition heat.
Not to mention, FatRandy is another regular front runner who joins MightyMeat, and whether hes the first or last car on the track, he’s def got the best looking car out there.
The Best Move, Is No Move
Reports say the JTB crew had no clue about the silly season. They remain the same 3 roster they had. Tho, Las Vegas Winner JTB Blazer should have more appearances which should bring a spark back to the JTB roster.
Rookie of the Year Battle
This season we will have our first rookie of the year battle. These drivers are all in their first full time season and will be battling it out to see who earns the first IWP ROTY award.
BobbyLeeSwagger – 3 : The 3 machine is quick, and in his few races in S1 he is certainly an early favorite for ROTY.
ErickOfMichigan – 97: A strong showing by Erick in the exhibition races proves he has some race craft. Joining the Mighty Meat crew, he may join Dinger/Hunwhi as champ contenders.
TBD – 21 : A teammate at KTRC Ware Racing of the 3, He too has a few starts from S1 and I think he has been pretty clean and fast. These two are veterans to the eNASCAR scene.
Saloman – 8 : Not much is known about Saloman, but he too joins KTRC Ware Racing this year.
Derrick Smith – 51 : The Ware part of KTRC Ware, this team of rookies looks to make an impact early.
Firestorm – 42 : Joining the Toyota camp, if you are reading this, please reach out to the 19 car, Corey Russell hes trying to get a hold of you about your charters extended warranty.
